Job Summary

The Lawrence J. Ellison Institute is seeking a talented and passionate Communications and Foundation Coordinator to join its team. As part of the Ellison Institute, the Communications and Foundation team is responsible for the effective development and delivery of a wide range of outreach and communications within the Institute that center around our scientific and health-focused goals.

The Communications and Foundation Coordinator collaborates with the department and external partners to plan and implement communication strategies that further the mission of the Institute. This position is responsible for content development, media relations and monitoring, and online platforms to ensure brand consistency, coordination of messages, and effective internal and external communication strategies through digital, print, and social media.

The Communications and Foundation Coordinator is responsible for performing the following job duties:

Social Media

  • Develop first draft of monthly social media calendar buildout
  • Create first draft of social media copy and graphics in coordination with Communication Lead
  • Monitor EITM’s social media engagement/followings and track progress across platforms

General

  • Organize, develop, and collect information for creation of EITM’s internal newsletter
  • Draft content for newsletter articles and collateral materials
  • Lead coordination of EITM’s activity calendar to monitor and collect dates for events and panels staff speak act and develop a strategy to collect content from photography, audio clippings, etc. to promote and showcase staff experience/contribution
  • Act as a monitor of branding across the Institute and attend EITM staff events as needed to serve as a communications presence and glean useful information for social, newsletter, website, etc.
  • Partner with Human Resources to coordinate updates to digital signage using existing templates for new hires, quarterly staff profile updates, etc. In addition, assist in minor website updates (title changes, adding new staff profiles, and collecting/editing new staff bios for web as staff are onboarded)
  • Assist with design and maintenance of organization website

Media Relations

  • Research and drafting of reporter/outlet backgrounders for EITM’s Founder and executive leadership as needed
  • Collect and organize information for draft press releases, media advisories, op-eds, and related media materials as needed
  • Develop first draft of press releases, media advisories, op-eds and related media material as needed
  • Update and maintain EITM media lists to ensure accuracy
  • Assist in pitching of media as needed

Foundation

  • Assist in board meeting prep and Foundation events
  • Assist in managing relationships and communications with key donors, board members and partners
  • Manage data entry Salesforce and donor collateral assembly in addition to creation of scanning/tracking system
  • Help with end of year audit

Job Accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively implement and manage diverse communications strategies and activities
  • Strong creative thinking abilities and willingness to learn
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to build collaborative working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization and develop strong professional relationships externally
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, WordPress, Hootsuite, CoSchedule, Campaign Monitors and CMS platforms
  • Demonstrated passion for EITM’s mission and values exemplified through work experience, leadership opportunities or community involvement.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in closely related field

Minimum Experience: 0-1 years in marketing, communication relations, and/or Foundation experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Minimum Field of Expertise: Community outreach in a fast-paced start-up environment

 

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field

Preferred Experience: 2-3 years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, public relations and/or Foundation experience is a plus.

Preferred Field of Expertise: Public relations, community outreach, media relations or marketing communications, especially social media

 

Salary:  $65k-87k DOE
